Ivan Cornejo is one of the best American singer songwriters in the regional Mexican Genre of music with good reason! He is an amazing artist that pulls you in no matter your relationship. He taught himself how to play guitar from YouTube and one of the first songs he learnt to play was “La Bamba” which is a Mexican folk song.
His debut album titled “Alma Vacia” was an instant hit and peaked at number two on the US Billboard regional Mexican albums chart and the same album peaked at number seven on the top Latin album chart and overall peaked in the top one hundred and fifty of the billboards top two hundred which is absolutely insane for Ivan Cornejo as it was his first album. This album also stayed in the top ten of the billboards regional Mexican albums charts for thirty five weeks which is eight whole months! It was also named as one of the best albums of 2021 by the New York Times.
Ivan’s second album was met with more success than his debut album. “Danado” peaked at the number one position on the Regional Mexican Albums chart and it spent a total of thirty seven weeks in the number one position! This is the fourth highest streak since the charts were created! This just shows how insanely talented he is even with only having created and posted his first album in 2021. Speaking of 2021, this was a big year for Ivan as it also saw him nominated for new artist of the year awards which he won in 2022 and he also won Regional Mexican artist of the year in 2022 and again in 2023.
In 2024 he released “Baby Please” as well as announcing the release of his new album “Mirada” and it was then released in the late section of the year. “Mirada” has since gone on to peak at number one on both the US Latin Charts as well as the US regional Mexican Albums Charts.
