The 78th annual Tony Awards, as presented by the Broadway League and the American Theatre Wing, is slated to hit the iconic 5,960-seat Radio City Music Hall on 8 June 2025, and will be honoring and recognizing all award categories of Broadway shows that opened in any of the 41 legitimate Broadway Award-eligible theatres during the 2024 - 2025 season. While the official nominees will be announced on 1 May 2025, the eligible Broadway productions include the wild and wonderful ones that’s got the nation buzzing - from ‘Home’ and ‘Once Upon A Mattress’ to ‘Romeo + Juliet’ and ‘A Wonderful World: The Louis Armstrong Musical’, from ‘The Picture of Dorian Gray’ and ‘Death Becomes Her’ to ‘Redwood’ and ‘Stephen Sondheim’s Old Friends’. The Tony Awards will also be broadcasted live to both coasts (8:00pm - 11:00pm live ET /5:00pm - 8:00pm live PT) on CBS Television Network and streamed on Paramount+.
The Antoinette “Tony” Perry Awards for Excellence in Broadway Theatre were first awarded in 1947 by the American Theatre Wing. The Awards are made in categories that include all performance categories, show and technical categories such as Best Direction, Costume Design, Choreography, Lighting Design, Best Original Score, Best Scenic Design, as well as numerous special awards such as the Regional Theatre Tony Award, the Special Tony Award that includes a Lifetime Achievement Award, the Tony Honors for Excellence in Theatre, and the Isabelle Stevenson Award.
