An opportunity to see the man who sold more than 85 million albums worldwide, had 51 top 40 singles, including 13 number one hits and 28 that made it to the top 10 chart, comes around but once in a lifetime.
Barry Manilow has an unparalleled career spanning seven decades, made up of virtually every facet of music, including composing, arranging, and producing. What started as a request for Barry Manilow in 1964 to arrange music for a musical adaptation of the melodrama “The Drunkard” turned out to become an entire newly written original score, followed by a successful stint in jingle-composing. In 1973, Barry Manilow released his eponymous debut album, but it was, however, his second album, “Barry Manilow II”, that broke him into the industry as a show-stopping performer, with a string of hits to follow, including the evergreen single “Mandy”.
Despite being a brilliant songwriter himself, Barry Manilow also had various hits with songs written by other acclaimed songwriters, such as “Tryin’ To Get the Feeling Again” by David Pomeranz, “Can’t Smile Without You” by Charles Fox and Norman Gimbel, and “I Write The Songs” by Bruce Johnston of The Beach Boys.
Barry Manilow has racked up multiple awards during his bumper-career, including two Emmy Awards, three American Music Awards, a Grammy Award, a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, a Society of Singers Lifetime Achievement Award, and an induction into the Songwriter’s Hall of Fame.
Fact: You love Barry Manilow, and you’ll love him even more after you’ve experienced him bringing the magic live in concert. He cuts a remarkable figure on stage - like someone half his age - with his signature high-energy hit-packed performance, heartwarming stories of how the Brooklyn Boy’s remarkable career started, slick grooves, and many special treats. Be warned – the songs will get stuck in your head and you will be mesmerized, awe-struck, and blown away.
